Tzabek

Tzab-ek — the Maya name for the Pleiades. It means ‘the rattlesnake’s rattle’: the cluster’s seven bright stars seen as the seven rattles on a serpent’s tail. To the Maya it marked the renewal of the seasons and the turning of the agricultural year.
